Tobacco kills 480k Americans annually, alcohol kills 140K Americans annually from consumption alone and pharmaceuticals kill 92K Americans annually. All three of these types of drugs are legally distributed and are taxed and regulated by the United States government. What about cannabis consumption?
Cannabis has a recorded history of over five thousand years of use and there has never been a single reported death legitimately contributed to cannabis. The aforementioned information about the government hopefully will not come as a surprise to most people. The US government is corrupt and could not care less about allowing poison to be made available to tax paying citizens, as long as they are in fact paying taxes. But this doesn’t explain the title of this blog, I just wanted to set the table as to why people might think you can overdose and die from cannabis.

Understanding The Endocannabinoid System
First it’s important to understand the ECS, the endocannabinoid system. The endocannabinoid system is something all vertebrate animals on the planet have, as we have all evolved on the same planet part of similar ecosystems. Not only are the two receptors (CB1 and CB2) that comprise the ECS the most abundant receptors in our bodies; but we also create our own endogenous cannabinoids. Yes you read correctly your own body creates cannabis compounds; without which we couldn’t survive as they facilitate regulatory processes of our bodies. So the next time you come across an anti-cannabis person, ask them why then do they create their own cannabis. See where that conversation leads.
CB1 receptors primarily reside in the brain and CB2 receptors in the immune system and both help to maintain homeostasis. A detail worth noting is that the CB1 and CB2 receptors are very evenly distributed throughout the brain and body. As opposed to say opioid receptors which are concentrated in the brain in an area responsible for regulatory processes of the body like breathing. So overdosing on an opioid can cause you to stop breathing all together. Too much of a stimulant can cause a heart attack or a stroke. Cannabis falls into its own category because there is nothing else like it, and as any real grower can tell you it is an absolute freak of nature in so many ways.
Why the Lie that Cannabis Consumption can Kill You?
There is a new brand of reefer madness alive and well today unfortunately. Since facts have no real bearing on the political motivations of people trying to keep for profit prisons alive and Big Pharma doing everything in their power to keep Americans sick, they know they can’t convince people cannabis will kill you so they have to pivot to other lies. If you have ever heard the (mislabeled) conditions of cannabis hyperemesis syndrome (notice how there is not a single concrete fact in favor of this label in the hyperlink article), or cannabis use disorder (again ZERO evidence) you know about new brand of cannabis disinformation.
There is not a single proven case of CHS that is caused by cannabis. Google it. I promise you will find NO conclusive evidence. You will find reports and studies that say things like may cause and could potentially lead to but nothing concrete. After growing craft clean cannabis for ten years I have never had a consumer or patient develop this sickness, which is characterized by excessive vomiting. It is my personal belief after working in commercial grows that the toxic levels of PGRs (plant growth regulators designed for landscaping, yes I’m serious) pesticides, fungicides and just the general lack of oversight from the FDA and other regulatory agencies cause this condition.
Cannabis Use Disorder?
Cannabis use disorder? This is characterized as people not being able to stop consuming cannabis and their lives are falling apart as a result. This is like a bad episode of Saved by the Bell. Do people that are obese have food use disorder? People that are addicted to cannabis are not addicted to cannabis they are most likely struggling with addiction in general and have found cannabis to be the safest thing for them. Is cannabis addictive? I think cannabis makes you well and being well is habit forming and there is nothing wrong with that.
In conclusion, cannabis is medicine and the cleanest and most efficacious for a myriad of conditions when grown correctly, that I have ever found. It not only works with your body but compliments a system (the ECS) hardwired to get us high and well from cannabis. The ECS receptors are designed in a way that makes it impossible to die from a toxic level of cannabis in its natural state. Move forward America.
Make Sure Your Cannabis is Clean
In order to keep prohibitionist from having a foothold on their rhetoric and your mind it’s most important to learn how to grow your own cannabis. That is where we come in. By growing your own weed at home you know exactly what goes into it and therefore what goes into your body.
