Firstly this is not going to be a scientific dissertation on the system in our bodies; most people in the cannabis growing space have some understanding of what this system is. I found a great blog post from Harvard Medical School that goes into a little more detail. But in a nut shell this system is how we receive cannabis’s medicinal effects from the cannabis plant as well as how we produce our own endogenous cannabinoids that facilitate many of the regulatory functions of our body.
The last part of that paragraph should really resonate with people, how did we ever make something illegal that not only grows naturally and has not only never killed anyone, but has no real negative consequences to the vast majority of people. I’ve researched countless studies that contain anti-cannabis rhetoric and two things are very apparent, the first is there is generally no real science backing these studies and secondly you can always trace the source back to an entity that has an interest in the following mediums: far right political interests, Big Pharma, Big Alcohol or the prison system, private and public.
So lets take look at that, they want people ignorant, sick, drunk and locked up; really? This is the world we live in and unfortunately a lot of these issues are uniquely American. The very sad thing to analyze is that being ignorant, sick, drunk and locked up are all interrelated. You could make the argument that any one of those element promote or begets another.
We have to take a step back and stop politicizing EVERY SINGLE THING. Whether you vote right or left is irrelevant to your body. The endocannabinoid system is going to work regardless of your political affiliation. Being dependent on pharmaceuticals, being unhealthy, drunk, locked up are all bad things. But people have become so brainwashed as to what is real they will believe anything they want. We are potentially seeing the death of this country before our very eyes. Cannabis as medicine is irrefutable and the evidence is unequivocal.
I use cannabis prohibition as a microcosm of a bigger problem in this country. To the left and to the right I just want to stay stop, just fucking stop. We are all more alike than different and the powers that be are not selling the ideals of the right or left, they are selling discord and nothing more. It’s a great product, people love it. Unfortunately the powers that be are exposing the worst of us all. The most horrible parts of the human condition and experience are the easiest to prey on. Our hate, our fears, our ignorance and our bigotry. I encourage everyone reading this to do just a little bit more in your daily lives to bring us all together, nature has been doing a much better job than we have for millions of years. One love.
